Art therapy (also know as art psychotherapy) is a form of psychotherapy where art-making is used to help you express feelings and thoughts which might be hard to put into words. Your art therapist is there to support you and help you reflect on your artwork and what it might mean to you.
You don't have to be 'good' at art. The art in art
Art therapy (also know as art psychotherapy) is a form of psychotherapy where art-making is used to help you express feelings and thoughts which might be hard to put into words. Your art therapist is there to support you and help you reflect on your artwork and what it might mean to you.
You don't have to be 'good' at art. The art in art therapy can vary from a squiggle or a collection of leaves to sculpture or painting you have spent weeks making. Sometimes simply playing with art materials can be therapeutic. You can decide what you make or do in each session.
Art therapists are allied health professionals, regulated by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and registered with the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).
Art therapy is:
- safe – art therapy is a safe space just for you.
- confidential – your art therapist will keep your artwork and conversation private (unless they are worried about you or someone else's safety). Art therapists are required to talk about their work with a registered therapy supervisor to ensure safety and best practice. This is also confidential.
- non‐judgemental – your art therapist is there to understand things from your point of view and without judgment.
Art therapy can help with:
- expressing and understanding feelings
- emotional support
- relationships
- self‐confidence
- processing current and past experiences
- finding healthy ways of coping
- relaxing and taking time for yourself

I am a psychodynamic and person-centred Art Therapist. My aim is to create a safe space for you to reflect and explore your strengths, challenges and any areas which are causing you difficulty. I am warm, friendly and creative.
I qualified in 2021, with an MA Art Psychotherapy from the University of South Wales.

I am a psychodynamic and person-centred Art Therapist. My aim is to create a safe space for you to reflect and explore your strengths, challenges and any areas which are causing you difficulty. I am warm, friendly and creative.
I qualified in 2021, with an MA Art Psychotherapy from the University of South Wales.
I work with children, young people and adults. I have a personal interest in neurodivergence (Autism, ADHD, dyslexia and other neurodevelopmental conditions) and a SEND friendly approach. I have experience of working with mental health, including anxiety and depression, dementia, addiction and bereavement.
I offer art therapy from my home studio or outdoors on the Northern Slopes, BS3. I use natural materials as well as traditional art materials. I also work online with adults.
My recent CPD includes courses in Suicide First Aid, Understanding Autism, Supervision, Working with People in Nature, Grief and Loss, Sandtray Therapy, and lots more (full list can be provided). I am one of the Regional Co-ordinators for my local British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) group which covers Bristol, Somerset and South Gloucestershire. I am also involved in a participatory research project with the University of Bristol exploring what makes spaces safe for supporting mental health.
I have a current DBS, first aid training, Level 3 Safeguarding training and am fully insured. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (AS017413) and am a full member of the British Association of Art Therapists (46189).
Before I became an Art Therapist I ran a business called Happymess which offered art and messy play classes. I have an MA Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, from 2001.
